New Orleans Saints News & Updates

The New Orleans Saints have dismissed coach Dennis Allen following seven consecutive losses.

Darren Rizzi, who has been coordinating special teams, steps in as the interim coach.

Despite starting the season with two wins, the Saints have lost every subsequent game, most recently against the Carolina Panthers.

Saints owner Gayle Benson commended Allen for his hard work but noted a change was necessary.

This decision marks the team's first midseason coaching termination since 1985 and only the third instance of an in-season head coach change since 1996.

Allen, who succeeded Sean Payton, accrued an 18-25 coaching record.

Numerous players, including Cameron Jordan, have voiced their disappointment over this decision.

The Saints have faced challenges on both offense and defense, managing to score only 11 offensive touchdowns in recent weeks.

Allen had a long-standing relationship with the team, having previously worked as an assistant and defensive coordinator before taking on the role of head coach.
