New Orleans Saints News & Updates

The New Orleans Saints have moved wide receiver Chris Olave to the injured reserve list after he experienced two concussions within a span of three weeks.

Olave will be unavailable for at least four games as he seeks specialist consultations and undergoes various medical tests.

Interim coach Darren Rizzi mentioned that Olave is visiting multiple specialists to create an optimal long-term healthcare strategy.

Olave suffered concussions in games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Chargers, and was taken off the field on a stretcher after sustaining a head injury against the Carolina Panthers.

Xavier Woods from the Panthers was fined and penalized for the hit on Olave, marking his ninth unnecessary roughness penalty since he began his NFL career in 2017.

This season, the Saints have had to place their top two receivers on injured reserve, with Rashid Shaheed having knee surgery and Olave dealing with his concussion-related setback.

The team is also without its top two cornerbacks; Paulson Adebo is out for the season with a femur injury, and Marshon Lattimore was traded to the Washington Commanders.

On Saturday, the Saints reactivated defensive back Will Harris and guard/center Shane Lemieux from injured reserve, and brought up wide receivers Kevin Austin Jr. and Dante Pettis for the upcoming Sunday's game.

Center Erik McCoy and Nephi Sewell have been declared out of play due to groin surgery and an ACL tear, respectively.

Alvin Kamara has been appointed as a permanent team captain for the rest of the season.
