New York Jets News & Updates

On the day Robert Saleh was relieved of his duties as head coach, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson made a notable request for Haason Reddick, who was holding out, to become part of the team.

Johnson remarked on how extraordinary the situation was, expressing his confusion over Reddick's absence.

He warmly invited Reddick to join, assuring him of a supportive environment within the locker room and a pathway to success.

In a direct appeal, Johnson encouraged Reddick to make the drive to join the team at the Jets' facility.

Reddick, who lives about 90 minutes from the training center, has been absent due to a disagreement over his contract, leading to substantial fines and the loss of some guaranteed salary.

Although he turned down a long-term deal when traded from the Philadelphia Eagles, Reddick expected to engage in further negotiation talks.

The Jets argue that Reddick went back on his agreement to play under his existing contract, which influenced their choice to trade a conditional third-round draft pick to acquire him.
