During Monday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr exited in the fourth quarter due to an oblique injury, contributing to the team's 26-13 defeat.
Carr mentioned that he intended to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to assess the severity of his injury.
He left the game after an incomplete pass on fourth down, experiencing hip discomfort and was evaluated initially in the injury tent before going to the locker room for further medical attention.
Even with the injury, Carr remained optimistic about his team's chances to win. He noted that the issue with his oblique was not about pain tolerance but was affecting his ability to throw effectively.
He asked if he could return to play but was told by medical staff that there was not enough time left in the game. Subsequently, Jake Haener took over in the next offensive series.
Carr's availability for Sunday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers remains uncertain, but he expressed his commitment to do whatever it takes to be ready to play.
This incident marks the fourth time Carr has had to leave a game due to injury in his two seasons with the Saints. Last season, he dealt with a shoulder injury against the Green Bay Packers and suffered two concussions in games against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions.
