Cleveland Browns News & Updates

Nick Chubb, the Cleveland Browns running back, will return to practice on Wednesday after being sidelined due to a season-ending knee injury last year. This development was confirmed by coach Kevin Stefanski.

Chubb, who has earned Pro Bowl honors four times, has been listed as physically unable to perform for the first four games of the season as he recovers from a severe knee injury that occurred in Week 2 of the 2023 season.

While the exact date of Chubb's season debut remains undisclosed, the Browns anticipate his return during 2024.

Stefanski emphasized Chubb's dedication to his recovery, stating that the next step involves him starting practice. He mentioned that Chubb is ready, and the focus is on how things progress from Wednesday onwards.

Earlier, league sources hinted that the Browns would initiate Chubb's practice window this week, providing Cleveland 21 days to activate him to the main roster.

Chubb has undergone two surgeries following his knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers on "Monday Night Football" last year. This marks his second major knee injury, the first being a severe tear of his MCL, PCL, and LCL while playing for the University of Georgia in 2015.

At age 28, Chubb had exceeded 1,000 rushing yards in four consecutive seasons until 2023, reaching a career-high of 1,525 yards in 2022.

The absence of Chubb has significantly impacted the Browns' offense in the season's first month. Cleveland currently ranks 26th in both points per game (16.5) and rushing yards per game (94.8). Additionally, quarterback Deshaun Watson has recorded a Total QBR of 23.8, the lowest among NFL's qualified passers.
