Patriots Name Rookie QB Drake Maye as Starter, Replacing Jacoby Brissett

Rookie Drake Maye is set to take on the role of starting quarterback for the New England Patriots, following Jacoby Brissett's exit from the team.

Brissett, who has spent nine years in the league, has led the Patriots through a challenging 1-4 start. Despite the adversity, he has managed to keep his record clean, throwing only one interception. This feat is notable given the various offensive line changes and the underperformance of the wide receiver unit.

However, coach Jerod Mayo has raised concerns about the lack of consistency in the offense and has taken into account Maye's progress off the field. Brissett's recent games, particularly a lackluster passing game against the Miami Dolphins, have played a role in the decision to make a change.

With this shift, Maye will join other rookie quarterbacks like Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Bo Nix as they step into starting positions this season.
