Pittsburgh Steelers News & Updates

After a quarter-century as their coach, Mike Sullivan will resign from his position with the Penguins. Sullivan began his tenure with the team in 2015, leading them to secure Stanley Cup victories in 2016, 2017, and 2023. Over his career, he accumulated a regular-season record of 387-171-54 and a playoff record of 65-33.

The Penguins have yet to reveal who will succeed Sullivan. However, Todd Reirden, currently serving as an assistant coach, is believed to be a strong contender. Reirden previously held the position of head coach for the Washington Capitals from 2018 to 2020.

Sullivan's decision to leave follows the Penguins' elimination by the New York Rangers in the first round of the playoffs. This marked the team's return to the playoffs since their last appearance in 2018.

Sullivan expressed gratitude to the Penguins organization and their fans for his tenure with the team. He conveyed pride in their shared accomplishments and extended his best wishes for the team's future success.
