The New England Patriots managed to clinch a victory with only 22 seconds remaining as they crossed the goal line with the decisive touchdown led by Rhamondre Stevenson, ending their six-game losing streak with a 25-22 triumph over Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
Even after first-round draft pick Drake Maye was sidelined with a concussion, Jacoby Brissett rose to the challenge, guiding the Patriots through two scoring drives in the fourth quarter. Stevenson's successful catch of the 2-point conversion sealed their win.
Although Aaron Rodgers completed a 16-yard pass to Davante Adams that brought the Jets close to the sideline, the Patriots' defense held firm, preventing any score as time expired. This victory marked their first home victory in over a year, a notable change after the coach had previously criticized the team for being "soft."
Brissett, who completed 15 out of 24 passes, shared his contentment and confidence post-game. Rodgers admitted the obstacles faced by the Jets, who are now at 2-6 and have endured five losses in a row.
The Jets, despite having high expectations with Rodgers on their side, have failed to secure a win since their matchup against the Patriots back in September, highlighting the ongoing challenges within the NFL, especially those that are self-inflicted.
In the initial quarter, Maye scored a rushing touchdown but was later taken out of the game following a concussion sustained from a hit by Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood. Brissett stepped in for Maye and managed to set up a field goal, allowing the Patriots to take a 17-16 lead.
Rodgers connected with both Wilson and Adams, paving the way for Braelon Allen's touchdown, which gave the Jets a temporary lead. However, it was Stevenson's late-game heroics that secured the victory for the Patriots.
