Pittsburgh Steelers News & Updates

Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Steelers, is being considered for a starting position against the New York Jets this Sunday. His consideration comes after demonstrating good health and improvement during practice sessions.

Closer to the game, Coach Mike Tomlin will make a decision between choosing Wilson or Justin Fields as the starting quarterback.

Tomlin feels assured about Wilson's health but highlights the importance of addressing Wilson's lack of recent game play. He mentioned the possibility of both quarterbacks getting playing time.

This week, Wilson completed his first full practice schedule since September, emphasizing his ability to protect himself and move effectively while in the pocket.

Although Tomlin has not specified how practice time will be divided between Wilson and Fields, he suggests that Wilson will eventually participate in first-team practices.

Under Fields' leadership, the Steelers have achieved a 4-2 record. In their latest victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, Fields scored two touchdowns by running. Despite this success, Tomlin sees the need to consider additional options.

Tomlin has observed that while the team has achieved some successes with Fields, the offense has not consistently performed at a high level. The possibility of incorporating Wilson's abilities provides new opportunities.

Fields is noted for his running capabilities, which differ from Wilson, who is not known for his rushing skills.

According to Tomlin, the potential impact of Wilson as the quarterback on the Steelers' offensive strategy is yet to be determined.
