Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce continues to assess the quarterback situation after replacing Gardner Minshew with Aidan O'Connell in the game against the Denver Broncos. Minshew completed 12 out of 17 passes with two interceptions, while O'Connell completed 10 out of 20 passes with one interception.
The issue concerning Davante Adams is yet to be solved. Adams has been away from the team for a week due to a reported hamstring injury, with trade rumors swirling around. Pierce chose not to comment on this matter.
Minshew has shown inconsistency over five starts, completing 70.7% of his passes for 1,014 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. Pierce noted that Minshew's 100-yard interception returned for a touchdown ruined the Raiders' momentum in the game against the Broncos.
O'Connell, who has previous experience as a starter, ended last season on a high note under Pierce's guidance. Pierce commended O'Connell's strategic play and has a clear understanding of what to expect from him.
As the Raiders prepare to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, the decision on the starting quarterback is still up in the air.
