Las Vegas Raiders News & Updates

Antonio Pierce, the coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, was given an eight-year show-cause order because of violations from his time as an assistant coach at Arizona State.

The NCAA identified Pierce as the mastermind behind a plan to bypass COVID-19 restrictions. He managed unauthorized contact with 35 prospects, which included activities like workouts, tours of facilities, and entertainment. He also encouraged tampering and arranged in-person meetings with prospects during restricted times.

This show-cause order mandates that Pierce will be suspended for the entire first football season should he take up any NCAA position before its expiration in 2032, preventing him from engaging with any coaches or players during that period.

The investigation into Pierce uncovered false information and discrepancies in financial records. He exerted pressure on staff to commit violations, driven by a fear of losing their jobs.

Anthony Garnett, a former ASU analyst, was also handed a five-year show-cause order for his role in these violations.

Regina Jackson, who is the mother of Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, played a role in organizing unauthorized campus visits.

Arizona State previously dealt with penalties like probation, financial fines, revoked game results, and limitations on scholarships and recruitment as consequences of these violations.

Pierce started at ASU in 2017 and stepped down in 2022. He then joined the Raiders as a linebackers coach before being promoted to head coach in January.

The Raiders chose not to provide a comment on the matter.
