Las Vegas Raiders News & Updates

The Las Vegas Raiders have acquired quarterback Desmond Ridder from the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad. Ridder, a former third-round draft pick, previously played for the Atlanta Falcons.

Ridder has participated in 19 career games and holds a record of 8 wins and 9 losses. He is joining the Raiders because their starter, Aidan O'Connell, suffered a thumb injury in the team's recent loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Before injuring his thumb, O'Connell had taken over from Gardner Minshew, who struggled against the Rams with three interceptions and a fumble. Minshew currently leads the league in turnovers, a position he shares with Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans, both having 10 turnovers this season.

Additionally, the Raiders have another quarterback, Carter Bradley, an undrafted rookie, on their practice squad.

Ridder is 25 years old and has accumulated 3,544 passing yards in his career, alongside 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was the second among nine quarterbacks selected in the 2022 draft and was a college teammate of Raiders receiver Tre Tucker.
