Ravens Face Cornerback Challenges with Wiggins Out for Cleveland Matchup

The Cleveland defense is dealing with a significant challenge related to their cornerback situation, given their position as the NFL's weakest in pass coverage.

Baltimore has downgraded their rookie Nate Wiggins, who was their first-round pick. He is out due to a shoulder issue and illness, which leaves their cornerback team thin for the upcoming game against Cleveland on Sunday.

Wiggins was anticipated to step in for Marlon Humphrey, who leads the team in interceptions but is currently dealing with a questionable knee injury.

It's likely that Baltimore will start Jalyn Armour-Davis, who has recently been activated from injured reserve. He will pair with Brandon Stephens. Despite previous injuries, this will be Armour-Davis's third start in his career.

Thanks to quarterback Lamar Jackson and their top-ranked offense, Baltimore has secured five wins in a row. However, their defense is facing difficulties, allowing opponents to gain an average of 287.1 passing yards per game, the most in the league.

Humphrey injured his knee after securing his fourth interception for the season, which ranks second-highest in the NFL. He was unable to participate in practice throughout the week.

The initial plan for Baltimore involved relying on Wiggins, the 30th pick in the draft, but health issues have sidelined him.

In the upcoming game, Baltimore will go up against quarterback Jameis Winston, who is starting for the Browns following Deshaun Watson's season-ending Achilles injury.
