In an exciting match at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers triumphed over the San Diego Padres with a 5-3 victory. Will Smith secured the win for the Dodgers with a two-run home run against Padres closer Taylor Rogers in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Dodgers initially jumped ahead 1-0 in the opening inning thanks to a ground-rule double by Chris Taylor. The Padres, however, equalized in the fourth inning when Eric Hosmer delivered a sacrifice fly.
The fifth inning saw the Padres move ahead with a solo home run by Ha-seong Kim. The Dodgers quickly countered in their half of the inning, regaining the lead with a two-run single by Max Muncy.
In the eighth inning, the Padres managed to tie the score once more with a double from Juan Soto. In the bottom of the ninth, Smith delivered the decisive game-winning homer.
Dodgers reliever Evan Phillips claimed the victory, while Rogers was tagged with the loss. The Dodgers' season record improved to 11-5, while the Padres' record dropped to 9-7.
