On Friday, the New York Yankees competed against the Chicago Cubs and ended the game with a 5-3 win in favor of the Yankees.
The Yankees established an early advantage by scoring twice in the opening inning and once more in the third. The Cubs managed to level the score in the fourth inning, but Aaron Judge hit a solo home run in the fifth to restore the Yankees' lead.
Maintaining their advantage, the Yankees' bullpen, with Clay Holmes and Aroldis Chapman, successfully struck out the side during the eighth and ninth innings.
Nestor Cortes Jr. secured the win for the Yankees, permitting three runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings. Conversely, Adbert Alzolay was charged with the loss for the Cubs, conceding five runs on six hits over 4.2 innings.
This victory improved the Yankees' performance record to 10 wins and 9 losses, while the Cubs’ record fell to 8 wins and 11 losses.
