Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson mentioned that he is getting ready and preparing to start for the team against the New York Jets on Sunday night.
Coach Mike Tomlin has yet to officially announce a starting quarterback. However, Wilson, who experienced a calf injury during training camp, has been participating in first-team practice sessions this week. Although he was available last week against Las Vegas, he did not take part in the game.
Wilson spoke about his physical recovery and his eagerness to return to the field. He mentioned that not having played games before has been a challenge for him. Nevertheless, he underlined the significance of facing challenges and continuing his leadership role.
Even though Justin Fields has performed well as the team's starting quarterback over six games, Wilson is still listed as the QB1 on the depth chart.
Wilson commended Fields' skills and highlighted the team's commitment to improving. Addressing any possible unease over a quarterback switch, Wilson reflected on his experience being benched in Denver. He noted that it was challenging but emphasized the importance of leading with love.
Wilson reiterated his ambition to win the Super Bowl and his dedication to doing whatever is necessary to accomplish that goal.
