New Orleans Saints News & Updates

The Saints have moved wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to injured reserve on Thursday following his knee surgery. As the leading player in punt return yards in the NFL, Shaheed is estimated to need four to six months for recovery.

This development leaves the Saints without two key receivers, as Chris Olave is also sidelined with a concussion. Before his injury, Shaheed recorded 20 catches and scored three touchdowns, while Olave managed 23 catches and one touchdown.

Shaheed is the third key player from the Saints to be recently placed on injured reserve, joining the ranks of starting center Erik McCoy and safety Will Harris. The team has additionally faced challenges with other players missing games due to injuries, including quarterback Derek Carr.

In July, Shaheed signed a contract extension for one year, ensuring his stay with the team until the 2025 season.
