Tight end Taysom Hill will not be playing for the New Orleans Saints in their upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs. This increases the already lengthy injury list for the team. He is accompanied by five other players who have been ruled out, namely linebacker Willie Gay, right guard Cesar Ruiz, center Shane Lemieux, defensive end Payton Turner, and left tackle Taliese Fuaga.
Despite these setbacks, starting linebacker Demario Davis, along with Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, and kicker Blake Grupe, were able to fully participate in Saturday's practice. In contrast, the status of linebacker Pete Werner remains uncertain as he is labeled questionable.
The Saints might face the challenge of being without three of their starting linemen from the season's opener, leading to the possibility of Connor McGovern stepping in as the starting center. Currently, center Erik McCoy is on injured reserve, and his backup, Lemieux, will also not play. This will be the second game in a row that Ruiz sits out due to a knee problem, and left guard Lucas Patrick is dealing with a groin issue, which also makes him questionable.
In response to these lineup adjustments, the Saints have decided to waive wide receiver A.T. Perry to make space for McGovern. Coach Dennis Allen expressed the desire for Perry to rejoin the practice squad pending the outcome of the waiver process.
