Sam Darnold delivered an outstanding performance for the Minnesota Vikings against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Previously a player for the Jets, Darnold threw two touchdown passes, connecting with Justin Jefferson on one and Jalen Nailor on the other.
A standout moment from the game was Andrew Van Ginkel's remarkable one-handed interception return for a touchdown. Darnold's accuracy, completing his first 12 passes, played a key role in the Vikings' comfortable win over the Giants. Meanwhile, Aaron Jones added a touchdown run, and Graham Gano provided field goals for the Giants.
Although Daniel Jones amassed 186 passing yards, the Giants' offense struggled, failing to put pressure on Darnold. Bobby Okereke, who faced Darnold during their college days, noted his consistent performance. The Vikings' defense was also strong, generating turnovers and limiting the Giants' scoring chances.
Injuries
For the Vikings, Jordan Addison sustained an ankle injury in the second half.
The Giants saw Gunner Olszewski aggravate a groin injury, while Carter Coughlin and Nick McCloud also suffered injuries during the game.
