The Seattle Seahawks have opted not to trade their star receiver DK Metcalf ahead of the approaching deadline, despite much speculation. Although other teams showed interest, the Seahawks turned down all inquiries made about him.
Rumors about a potential trade were fueled by Metcalf's contract situation and the team's recent difficulties. Nevertheless, the Seahawks are confident in his ability to return and make future contributions.
Having missed the last two games due to a knee injury, Metcalf is expected to come back after the bye week in time for the rematch against the San Francisco 49ers. He is currently third in the league with 568 receiving yards over the first seven weeks.
Coach Mike Macdonald is optimistic about Metcalf's recovery, believing that the additional time during the bye week will facilitate the healing process. Metcalf is under contract through 2025 and can be offered an extension next offseason.
The team's choice to keep Metcalf is consistent with their usual practice of not trading key players during the season. A notable exception to this was Percy Harvin in 2014, who was traded due to internal team conflicts.
