New York Jets News & Updates

The New York Jets have opted to let go of Riley Patterson and have brought Anders Carlson onto their practice squad. Spencer Shrader is set to be promoted from the practice squad and will take on kicking duties in the Sunday's match against the Arizona Cardinals.

Instability has marked the Jets' kicking situation following Greg Zuerlein's injury. Shrader will be the third kicker in three games.

Though Patterson was flawless on extra points last week, his kickoff performance lacked consistency. While Shrader has never attempted an NFL field goal, he was recruited as a backup option.

Recently released by the San Francisco 49ers, Carlson had a successful time there, completing all five field goal attempts and three out of four extra points.

There is still the possibility of Zuerlein's return for the Jets, but the timeline for his readiness to play remains uncertain.

In other injury-related updates, it is anticipated that Alijah Vera-Tucker and John Simpson will be back in the lineup after missing games because of injuries.

Last week, the Jets broke their five-game losing streak with a win, leaving them with an 18% chance of reaching the playoffs.
