Steelers' Russell Wilson Back at Practice, Possible Comeback Against Raiders Looms

Tuesday, October 8th, 2024

Pittsburgh Steelers News & Updates

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is ready to fully engage in practice for the first time after sustaining a calf injury on September 5th.

Coach Mike Tomlin views this as a chance for Wilson to possibly play in the upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Despite Wilson's full participation, Tomlin clarified that this does not automatically mean Wilson will be activated. Wilson needs to prove his fitness and ability to protect himself during the practice session on Wednesday.

During practice, Wilson will be working with the second offensive unit, while Justin Fields will continue training with the first team.

Tomlin mentioned that Wilson's enhanced health condition permits him to practice without restrictions, providing an opportunity for them to evaluate his performance and development over the week.

For the last five games, Wilson has been listed as the inactive third quarterback.
