Pittsburgh Steelers News & Updates

The Steelers' starting right tackle, Troy Fautanu, has sustained a knee injury during practice and is out for an indefinite period.

Fautanu was expected to start in the upcoming game against the Chargers on Sunday, but now Broderick Jones will fill in for him.

Jones, who was selected 14th overall in the 2023 draft, will aim to improve from his recent poor performance off the bench against the Broncos.

Coach Mike Tomlin had initially planned to rotate tackles; however, Jones' penalties led to him being benched.

Fautanu had taken over as the starter, but concerns about his conditioning gave Jones another opportunity.

Fautanu's injury exacerbates the offensive line’s current difficulties as both Nate Herbig and Isaac Seumalo are also out.

This knee injury is another setback for Fautanu, who had previously suffered an MCL sprain during the preseason.

Despite his injury, Tomlin had been impressed with Fautanu's preseason showing, which earned him the starting position.
