The Houston Texans have added wide receiver Nico Collins to their injured reserve list, which means he will miss a minimum of four games.
During their Week 5 win against the Buffalo Bills, Collins sustained a hamstring injury shortly after completing a 67-yard touchdown reception.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans described Collins' status as "week-to-week" and emphasized that compensating for his contributions will require a collective effort from the team.
The task of replacing Collins during the Week 5 game was tough, as the Texans managed to score only nine points after he left the field. Even when Collins has been available, the Texans' offense has not been particularly strong, ranking 19th in scoring with an average of 20 points per game.
C.J. Stroud's performances have been noticeably better with Collins in the lineup. Targeting Collins, Stroud has achieved a passer rating of 133, and the pair leads the league in expected points added. Stroud's passer rating falls to 72 without Collins.
The Texans are also coping with the absence of Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon due to an ankle injury, and it's unclear whether he will return in Week 6.
With Collins unavailable, Stefon Diggs is set to take over as the primary receiver, while Tank Dell's responsibilities are likely to increase as well.
In their future games, the Texans are scheduled to face the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, and New York Jets, with the Jets being the only team having a pass defense ranked in the top five for yards allowed per game.
