San Francisco 49ers News & Updates

Jordan Mason, stepping in as backup running back, stole the show over the much-anticipated return of Aaron Rodgers, leading the 49ers to a 32-19 win against the Jets.

Mason capitalized on the absence of the injured Christian McCaffrey, rushing for 147 yards and scoring a touchdown.

Rodgers, in his Jets debut, passed for 167 yards and a touchdown, but faced mobility issues and ended the game with an interception.

Mason's standout game included 28 carries, marking the highest number by a 49ers player in a regular season game in 13 years.

The 49ers controlled the second half, scoring on eight consecutive drives, largely due to Mason's powerful running approach.

Rodgers expressed optimism about his performance, acknowledging areas for improvement yet noting that his game time significantly surpassed his previous injury-shortened Jets debut.

Injuries affected both teams, with the Jets losing cornerback Michael Carter to an ankle injury, and the 49ers missing tight end Deebo Samuel and left guard Aaron Banks.

The Jets will take on Tennessee on Sunday, while the 49ers are set to play in Minnesota.
