On Thursday night, the Boston Red Sox emerged victorious over the New York Yankees with a score of 7-2 at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox quickly took the lead, scoring twice in the first inning against Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole. Rafael Devers brought in the first run with a single, while Christian Arroyo added another run with a double.

In the third inning, the Yankees narrowed the gap to 2-1 through a solo home run by Gleyber Torres. Nonetheless, the Red Sox restored their two-run advantage in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly from Trevor Story.

The lead widened to 5-1 for the Red Sox in the fifth inning when Bobby Dalbec hit a two-run single. The Yankees managed their last run of the game in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly by Matt Carpenter.

The Red Sox secured their win by adding two more runs in the eighth inning, thanks to a double by Alex Verdugo and a single by Devers.

Nick Pivetta delivered a solid performance for the Red Sox, pitching 5.2 innings and conceding one run on four hits. He tallied seven strikeouts and gave up three walks.

For the Yankees, Cole pitched for 4.1 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits. He achieved five strikeouts and issued two walks.
