All-Pro Cornerback and Washington Commanders Legend Pat Fischer Dies at 84

Pat Fischer, a former professional football cornerback known for his All-Pro status, has died at the age of 84. His career spanned 17 seasons with both the St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Commanders.

The Washington Commanders announced Fischer's passing through a spokesperson, although the cause of death has not been shared publicly.

Fischer's time in the NFL extended from 1961 to 1977. During this period, he was recognized as an All-Pro in 1964 and was selected for the Pro Bowl in 1964, 1965, and 1969. Throughout over 220 games including the regular season and playoffs, Fischer made 57 interceptions.

Before joining the NFL, Fischer was a versatile player at the University of Nebraska, taking on roles such as safety, tailback, and quarterback. He was picked in the 17th round by the Cardinals and eventually was honored as part of the Washington Commanders' ring of fame.
