All Washington Commanders News
The Washington Commanders, originally established as the Boston Braves in 1932, relocated to Washington, D.C., in 1937, adopting the name Redskins. Under the ownership of George Preston Marshall, the franchise faced criticism for its controversial name and its refusal to integrate its roster until 1962. During the 1990s, under the leadership of coach Joe Gibbs, the Redskins achieved notable success, securing three Super Bowl victories. However, the team encountered struggles in the following years. In 2020, amid growing pressure from sponsors and fans, the organization decided to change its name, temporarily adopting the Washington Football Team. By 2022, after a public vote, the team officially rebranded as the Washington Commanders.
