Washington Commanders News & Updates

The Washington Commanders will be without running back Brian Robinson Jr. for their upcoming game against the New York Giants on Sunday. He is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, marking his second absence in the last four games.

Robinson had limited participation in practice during the week, raising hopes for his potential return. However, after evaluating his condition in a morning workout, the Commanders decided he was not sufficiently recovered to play.

Previously, Robinson also missed a Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens because of a right knee injury. Despite these setbacks, he leads the team with 461 rushing yards and has scored six touchdowns, maintaining an average of 4.6 yards per carry.

To compensate for Robinson's absence, Chris Rodriguez Jr. has been promoted from the practice squad. Rodriguez is known for power running, a style that closely matches Robinson's approach.

The Commanders also have other options in their running back lineup, including Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols, who are primarily used in third-down scenarios. Ekeler has accumulated 240 rushing yards along with 207 receiving yards, while McNichols has contributed 163 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns.
