San Francisco 49ers News & Updates

George Kittle, the tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, will not participate in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a hamstring injury.

The 49ers have promoted Brayden Willis from the practice squad to provide additional support behind tight ends Eric Saubert and Jake Tonges.

Additionally, defensive end Sam Okuayinonu has been added to the active roster. He may replace Nick Bosa, who is uncertain to play because of a rib injury.

Kittle experienced pain following Wednesday's practice, and despite not practicing since, he was initially listed as doubtful to play.

In addition to Kittle, the 49ers will also be missing running back Christian McCaffrey, who has Achilles tendinitis, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who is dealing with a calf injury.

Eric Saubert is expected to start in place of Kittle.

Coach Kyle Shanahan commended Saubert, noting that he has been impressive and shown his ability to contribute in both passing and running situations.
