Denver Broncos News & Updates

Justin Fields guided the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 13-6 victory over the Denver Broncos, who were quarterbacked by rookie Bo Nix. Fields threw for 117 yards and a touchdown, while Nix amassed 246 yards but suffered two interceptions.

Russell Wilson, despite his anticipated return to Denver, had to watch from the sidelines due to a calf injury. In recognition of his presence, coach Mike Tomlin presented him with a game ball.

Fields mentioned Wilson's return, saying it was โ€œnice to get him a win.โ€ This victory brings the Steelers to a 2-0 record, while the Broncos continue their season winless at 0-2.

Among Nix's turnovers was an end zone interception in the third quarter that halted Denver's most promising drive. He also threw a second interception as time ran out, sealing the Broncos' loss.

Patrick Surtain II's third penalty for pass interference allowed the Steelers to score a 53-yard field goal. In the fourth quarter, the Broncos managed only two field goals.

The Broncos continued to struggle offensively under Nix, averaging just 281.5 yards per game compared to 329.7 when Wilson was at the helm.

Adding to their woes, the Broncos faced injuries to John Franklin-Myers, Baron Browning, J.L. Skinner, and Tyler Matakevich, with a potential injury also sidelining Mike McGlinchey.

Next, the Steelers are set to compete against the Los Angeles Chargers, while the Broncos will travel to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
