Justin Herbert propelled the Los Angeles Chargers to an overwhelming 26-3 win against the Carolina Panthers, tossing two touchdown passes to Quentin Johnston.
From the onset, the Chargers dominated, racking up 219 yards on the ground while keeping the Panthers to a mere 159 yards. Bryce Young continued to struggle, managing only 84 passing yards along with an interception, eliciting boos from the home fans.
Herbert initiated the scoring with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Johnston. Following an interception by Horn on Herbert, Young's inability to convert a third down kept the Panthers from reaching field goal range.
Johnston found the end zone again with a 5-yard touchdown pass, and J.K. Dobbins contributed with a 43-yard touchdown run, extending the Chargers' lead to 20-0 by halftime.
Dobbins made history as the first NFL player since Jamal Lewis in 2003 to have three runs of at least 43 yards in the first two weeks of the season.
Herbert concluded the game with 130 passing yards, while Johnston accumulated five receptions for 51 yards.
The Panthers seemed to clamp down on the score during the third quarter, but the home crowd exited in frustration before the fourth quarter began.
Looking ahead, the Chargers will stay in Charlotte for practice before heading to Pittsburgh for their next matchup. Meanwhile, the Panthers are set to travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders.
