Washington Commanders News & Updates

Marcus Mariota focused on ensuring Jayden Daniels was okay before taking over for the injured rookie. Afterward, he seamlessly played in his usual style.

With Daniels sidelined due to a rib injury, the Washington Commanders convincingly defeated the Carolina Panthers 40-7 on Sunday. Mariota completed two touchdown passes, and Dante Fowler returned an interception from Andy Dalton for a 67-yard touchdown.

The Commanders performed impressively without Daniels for much of the game, accumulating a total of 421 yards against the Panthers. Brian Robinson Jr. found the end zone as well, marking his return from a knee injury.

The Panthers continued to struggle under Dalton, who finished the game with 11 completions on 16 attempts for 93 yards. Bryce Young played briefly in the later stages.

The outlook for Daniels remains unclear, with further evaluations planned for Monday. Meanwhile, the Commanders' defense was dominant, restricting the Panthers to just 180 yards and forcing seven third-down stops.

Panthers players Raheem Blackshear and Tommy Tremble suffered a shoulder and back injury, respectively. For the Commanders, Brandon Coleman dealt with a concussion.

The Panthers will face Denver next Sunday, while the Commanders will meet Chicago on the same day.
