Although practice on Wednesday suggested otherwise, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is hopeful about playing in the upcoming NFC North game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Love, who was absent from practice because of a groin injury he got during the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, feels confident in his ability to participate, even if he doesn't practice this week.
Head coach Matt LaFleur shares Love's optimism, recognizing that Love might play without practice and acknowledging the progress in his recovery.
LaFleur highlighted the importance of Love's ability to protect himself, due to concerns about the potential link between the groin injury and an earlier knee injury.
During the Jaguars game, Love played through the first half and later attributed his exit to the groin injury.
Despite the approaching bye week, Love is eager to return to play as soon as possible.
If Love is unable to play, backup quarterback Malik Willis, who led the team to a victory over the Jaguars, is prepared to start.
Several offensive line starters, including Rasheed Walker, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Myers, and running back Josh Jacobs, also missed practice due to injuries, yet Jacobs expects to play on Sunday.
