Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert revealed on Friday that he has a high right ankle sprain.
Herbert mentioned that while the pain is bearable, he still walked with a limp after his news conference. His availability for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers remains undecided.
The Chargers have marked Herbert as questionable for the Sunday matchup. He skipped practices on Wednesday and Friday but took part in a limited session on Thursday.
Coach Jim Harbaugh explained that missing Friday's practice was a scheduled part of Herbert's recovery plan. Herbert noted that his ankle is getting better each day and he aims to ensure he is comfortable and mobile during games.
Initially, Harbaugh suggested that Easton Stick would start if Herbert couldn't play, but he later retracted that statement.
Herbert's injury occurred in the third quarter of a win against the Carolina Panthers when his ankle was caught under an opponent during a tackle.
This is Herbert's second injury this season, following a plantar fascia injury to his right foot during training camp.
Despite these challenges, Herbert remains confident in his recovery and stresses the importance of staying positive and avoiding excessive concern or complaints.
