Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is dealing with a rib injury that occurred during the game on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. His condition is being assessed on a week-to-week basis.
Coach Dan Quinn remains hopeful about Daniels' potential return for the game against the Chicago Bears next Sunday. Nonetheless, he stressed the importance of prioritizing the player's health and taking necessary precautions.
Daniels, currently second in the NFL in QBR, experienced the injury after a 46-yard run in the first quarter against the Panthers. He exited the game following the incident and did not come back.
Should Daniels be unable to participate, Marcus Mariota will take the starting position against the Bears. Mariota, who stepped in for Daniels during the game, delivered a strong performance.
Quinn mentioned that the team will carefully observe Daniels during practice sessions to confirm his ability to execute all required movements effectively.
The coach also mentioned that despite Daniels' injury, the team's approach to incorporating quarterback runs will remain unchanged. He explained that the injury was due to an awkward landing, not an issue with the play design.
