The 1997 season was a transformative year for the Seattle Seahawks. Guided by new head coach Dennis Erickson, the team posted an 8-8 record, an encouraging step up from their 7-9 finish the previous year. Quarterback John Friesz orchestrated the offense, with Ricky Watters establishing himself as a vital running back. On the defensive side, Pro Bowl linebacker Chad Brown provided the backbone for a unit that showed noticeable progress. Although the Seahawks fell short of making the playoffs, they laid a strong groundwork for future achievements, paving the way for a playoff appearance in the next season.
