Overall record: | 9-7 |
Home record: | 5-3 |
Away record: | 4-4 |
In 2001, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackled a challenging season with rookie head coach Jon Gruden at the helm. Despite losing star quarterback Brad Johnson to a severe knee injury, the team rallied under backup Trent Dilfer and standout running back Warrick Dunn. The Buccaneers' defense, powered by stalwarts Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks, continued to be a dominant force. Nevertheless, offensive inconsistencies and a tough schedule led to a 9-7 record, narrowly missing a playoff spot.
